Bio:

Hunter is a fictional player character in

gmskuld's D&D 3.5 Faerun Campaign. She evolved from a character created for AD&D (first edition) in the mid-eighties.

Ilmarë Cúthalion is a wood elf from the Hullak forest of northeast Cormyr. Besides her unfailingly pleasant mother and her unfailingly disapproving father, she has an older sister who is smarter, prettier, and a better elf in nearly every way than Ilmarë is. Her parents and her entire village never let her forget it.

What she was good at was archery, and she had such a rapport with her woods that the nickname 'Hunter' was not long in coming. Her father, a master archer himself, intended to pass his knowledge over to a son, but as he had none, he reluctantly took on Hunter's training.

But Hunter, although she had a natural aptitude, proved difficult to train. She was surly, short-tempered, impatient, and unfocused. She would disappear for days at a time and return, filthy, injured, but giggling, after some tussel in the forest, or still half-drunk from a foray into nearby human settlements. She seemed unable to meditate like other elves, and had to sleep like a human to regain her energy.

Her bretheren began to worry that she was insane. She seemed to revel in dangerous situations, as if the threat of death aroused her. It was said that she burned too brightly to live long, and that she would surely burn out within a single human lifetime. Thus the name 'Halfelven' was thrown at her, and stuck. Hunter accepted it with a sense of irony, as she found that she no more wished for the company of elves than they wished for hers. And so she left, to wander the woods that she loved and to drift amongst the settlements of Men.
